A lifelong resident of New Jersey, Jennifer Derin has been putting pen to paper since her early years as a teenager. Music, films, and writing have always been her passion; hence, the dream of writing a screenplay was born. She has been known to get lost in books and films for days, even entire weekends. Family and career responsibilities led her to a path to investment banking over the past 30 years. Freedom from some of those obligations now allows her to pursue her vision of writing a script about self-discovery and self-worth.
Years ago, I had an idea for a screenplay. I took notes, dictated thoughts and wrote idea, but I did not know how to translate it into a screenplay. As the years went by, I realized this idea was based on very real thoughts and feelings and wanted to share that with the world. This is how “Long Way Home” was born.
Fast forward to the pandemic and I decided to use my lock down as a time to get my degree in Creative Writing and English and to concentrate on Screenwriting. Throughout my classes my second script came to life, “Classic Notes”. Both scripts are self-discovery of women at different times in their lives. These are stories that all women encounter at one point or another and I want to tell them, so they know they are not alone in their struggles.
